Boston is a great city for families with teenagers. With a wealth of attractions, activities, and cultural sites, the city offers plenty to keep teens entertained and engaged. From exploring the city’s cultural attractions and historical sites to playing in local parks and hitting the beach, Boston has something for every teen and family.

Begin your adventure in the Boston Common, America's oldest park. Here, you'll find plenty of green space to relax and explore. The 54-acre park includes activities like paddleboats, walking trails, an old-fashioned carousel, and a bandstand, making it a great place for families to spend time every season.

From the park, cross into the Public Garden, a 24-acre urban green space. The garden is beautiful and tranquil, offering a large pond dotted with swan boats and walkways lined with flowers and trees. The nearby carousel is a fun place for teens to visit, and the grass is open for picnicking.

History buffs will love exploring Boston’s iconic Freedom Trail. The 4-kilometer trail winds through Boston’s cobbled streets, leading visitors to 16 of the city’s most important historical sites. These include the Paul Revere House, the USS Constitution Museum, and Old State House. Teens can explore these sites on their own or join a guided Freedom Trail tour.

Boston has excellent arts and culture offerings to keep teens engaged. Stop by the Museum of Fine Arts, one of the largest and oldest museums of its kind in the world. Here, you'll find works from European masters and the Castillo Hispanic Society of America, as well as temporary exhibitions and a renowned performing arts center. The Museum of Science is also a must-visit for teens’, offering unique interactive exhibitions and live science demonstrations.

Boston also continues out to the ocean, where you can enjoy a day at the beach. With over a dozen beaches located on Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area, there is something for every teen. Peters-Langone and Spectacle Island offer swimming and stunning views of the harbor. Meanwhile, Hog Island has trails for biking and Harrison is a great place to play volleyball and enjoy a picnic lunch.

No visit to Boston is complete without a shopping excursion. Teens will find plenty to pique their interest in the city’s various malls, shopping centers, and boutiques. Faneuil Hall Marketplace is a great place to start and features over stores, including popular retailers like Lululemon and Nike. Another popular shopping mall is The Shops at Prudential Center, which features more than 80 stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues.

Shopping aside, teens can also enjoy a variety of live music events. Catch a show at one of the city’s many concert venues or attend one of the city’s exciting music festivals, like the Boston Calling Music Festival and the Boston Pop Pop-Up Series.

Finally, experience the city from a unique vantage point by exploring one of Boston's many tours. Go beyond the typical attractions with a Freedom Trail walking tour or a lobster boat cruise. Or, get lost in the city’s hidden alleyways and boutique neighborhoods with a guided ghost tour.

From art and history to culture and outdoor recreation, Boston has plenty to offer teens and families. With so much to explore, the city is a great destination for fun and adventure, no matter the season.
